Chapter: Documents

Workstation identification

Every working document (ie all documents except Matter details) have a computed when composed field called FiledBy. This field contains what is called the workstation Identification or WSID. It is in fact the computer name of the computer on which the document is created.

The WSID is associated with the name of the person who normally uses that computer. It is stored in the User IDfield of the users file in the System db. With the advent of Script, the WSID will be taken directly from the computers Registration file ( Regedit).

Purpose
WSID is used in the reference of all Word documents (if using Legal Word) , to assist in identifying the source of the document. It is also used in the "Filed By" view to assist in locating documents created by a given computer. Its original purpose (in the creation of outgoing documents) is now redundant.
